When the need came to provide some order around the management of the Microsoft Gold Certified Partner for Support Services program, Ignia was asked to step in and oversee the technology development. Prior to Ignia's involvement, each international subsidiary was manually managing their partner data via a number of home-brewed systems, including Microsoft Office documents and SharePoint services. The lack of centralization made this system difficult to manage and nearly impossible to provide global data analysis.

Project Details

Ignia was given one month to rapidly develop an initial prototype / proof-of-concept. Within this time, Ignia was able to create a solid production ready application which would be used for the following:

Data management of Microsoft Gold Certified Partners for Support Services
Data collection and analysis of key metrics information
Content management of web profile information for maintenence of Internet content on Microsoft.com

In addition, Ignia provided requirements gathering and design for a proposed new edition of the tool, which would extend its capabilities with the following features:

International language support allowing web profiles to be created in multiple languages (including those requiring double-byte character sets, such as Japanese and Korean)
Database inheretance models to enable the centralization and simplification of data distribution
Extensive reporting features allowing complex data analysis to be provided against a SQL database
Integration with other internal Partner Databases to merge data collection with existing data stores
Integration with the Microsoft Partner Portal to allow partner's the ability to securely manage key pieces of partner information
